Take power beyond the driveway

Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) can supply compatible appliances from a vehicle that supports it. Availability, adapters, limits and operating steps differ by model and model year. Start with the handbook for your exact vehicle.

V2L is for compatible plug-in loads. Never connect it to household wiring or feed power through a wall socket. Fixed electrical connections require an appropriately licensed electrician and an approved system.

1Confirm your equipment

Find the discharge or V2L section in your Australian handbook. Confirm that your vehicle supports the feature and use the BYD-approved adapter specified for it. Do not assume an adapter or power limit is shared across models.

2Plan the load

Read the vehicle output limit and each appliance rating, including start-up demand. Choose a small load first and leave room below the stated limit. Check the minimum battery level and shutdown conditions in your handbook.

3Set up a dry, protected area

Park safely, apply the parking brake and keep connectors and appliances dry. Use suitable, undamaged equipment. Do not place cables across access paths, and do not improvise adapters.

4Connect and enable as instructed

Follow the exact connection and activation sequence in the handbook; screen names vary. Start one appliance and confirm normal operation before adding another. If a warning appears, stop and follow the handbook.

5Monitor, then pack away

Monitor battery level and any warnings. Stop the discharge function and disconnect in the order specified by BYD. Inspect and store the adapter clean and dry.

Check the official instructions

This checklist was prepared with reference to BYD Australia’s official manual directory and service information. Model-specific limits and operating sequences are intentionally left to your handbook. These general checklists do not verify feature availability for every vehicle.
